Ahmed Elgendy wins Gold at Paris Olympics 2024

EUI’s top management has extended its congratulations to Olympic champion Ahmed Elgendy, a Business Informatics student and the champion of the national modern pentathlon team, for winning the gold medal, leading in the semifinal, and breaking the Olympic record with a score of 1555 points at the Paris 2024 Olympics, which were held from July 26 to August 11.

Prof. Reem Bahgat, President of EUI, congratulated Ahmed Elgendy for his remarkable achievements. She stated, "Ahmed Elgendy has made us and all Egyptians very proud by winning the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics for the first time. He is a significant source of pride for the university and the sports community as a whole."

Prof. Bahgat also highlighted that sports at the university are experiencing a renaissance and thriving thanks to the support from the state, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the commitment of Minister Dr. Amr Talaat to elevating Egypt’s name and maintaining the high level of talent among the university’s students.

She added, "We feel immense pride in the continuous and successive achievements of our university's students in global competitions. Ahmed Elgendy has once again elevated Egypt’s name at the Paris Olympics with his outstanding performance. This underscores that EUI students are advancing steadily and strongly, distinguishing themselves in all scientific and sports fields, as evidenced by their achievements on global podiums and numerous international titles."

The President affirmed that these results will be sustained through ongoing support for the Olympic champion and by paving the way for him and all university students to continue on the path of progress and achievement in various fields.

Prof. Samaa Taher, Dean of the Faculty of Business Informatics at EUI, noted that Ahmed Elgendy, a third-year student in the faculty, serves as a role model for success and achievement. She said, "At EUI, we take pride in our students receiving awards that reflect the university's commitment to providing a world-class academic experience and an exceptional educational journey focused on developing leadership and creative skills. This better prepares them for the job market of the future, and we look forward to continuing to achieve excellence and success that aligns with the goals of EUI."

She emphasized that such achievements motivate the university to provide a comprehensive and outstanding academic experience and offer opportunities to enhance students' competencies and talents. Thus, we take pride in our students' excellence in both sports and academics.

Dr. Amani Eissa, Head of Business Development at EUI, noted that Ahmed Elgendy has proven to be a distinguished ambassador for the university and a role model of awareness, success, and determination to achieve his dreams.
